Tallahassee, FL (October 30, 2025). Today, TLH Reckoning announced that Academy player and WPSL player Alexis Young has earned the prestigious invitation to attend the Allstate Next Wave National Showcase.
This marks yet another monumental milestone for female soccer players in Tallahassee who dream of playing in college and, one day, in the professional leagues. The Allstate Next Wave National Showcase is presented in partnership with Black Star and the Black Women’s Player Collective. Only 20–30 of the nation’s top-performing, high-school-aged Black female players were selected to participate.
“I’m so incredibly blessed and honored to be invited to the Allstate Next Wave Showcase and to represent TLH Reckoning, Lincoln High School and Tallahassee,” said Alexis Young, TLH Reckoning Academy player. “TLH Reckoning has been such a huge help, and I’m grateful for everything they’ve done to get me to this point.”
Alexis Young is a goalkeeper on TLH Reckoning’s Academy team and also earned minutes with the TLH Reckoning WPSL Pre-Professional team during the 2025 season. Young, currently a junior at Lincoln High School, continues to rise through the ranks as one of Tallahassee’s top players to watch. This achievement marks another first for Tallahassee soccer—among all soccer clubs within a three-hour radius of the city—and makes Young the first Black female goalkeeper to receive such an esteemed opportunity.
“We are very proud of Alexis for earning this incredible opportunity,” said Dr. Ashlee Fontes, TLH Reckoning Founder. “She has a great attitude and always puts in the work with Coach Sascha Filippi, her goalkeeper coach. We, TLH Reckoning, exist for this reason – to develop our aspiring female players and create access to legitimate pathways for them. There’s no doubt that Alexis will represent TLH Reckoning and Tallahassee well. Let’s make sure we all cheer her on!”
The showcase will take place November 22–25 in the Metro Houston area and will be the first of its kind to bring together rising Black female soccer players aspiring to compete at the collegiate and professional levels. College soccer programs from across the United States, as well as professional scouts from organizations such as U.S. Soccer and the Houston Dash (NWSL), are expected to attend.
“I’m beyond excited to learn and grow from the other players and coaches there,” Young continued. “Huge thanks to Coach Ashlee, Coach Izzy, and especially Coach Sascha — I’m so thankful to have such dedicated coaches who always push me to be my best. Most of all, thank God and my family for their constant love, support, and guidance. I couldn’t do it without them.”
Invited players will take part in an immersive training and development program that includes training sessions, 11v11 matches, and skills challenges. Players will also participate in college prep workshops, career panels, social activities, activations, nutrition and mental health sessions, and an award ceremony.
TLH Reckoning Academy is hosting supplemental evaluations (tryouts) in November and December for middle school and high school female players.
