(Tallahassee, FL – December 9, 2025) — The ownership group of TLH Reckoning is proud to announce the addition of Florida State University women’s soccer icon Tiffany McCarty as an investor and community-owner through the club’s current Wefunder campaign. This marks another powerful connection between TLH Reckoning and the proud women’s-soccer legacy at FSU.
“Tallahassee was my home for 5 years and has shaped who I have become in a big way,” said Tiffany McCarty. “I am thrilled to be connecting with TLH Reckoning. I want to be a part of something so special in this community. There were so many people that helped with my development as a person. I would like to give back some of the support that was given to me. I believe in this city and what TLH Reckoning is trying to accomplish both on and off the field. I want to be a part of something that’s bigger than myself.”
This investment into TLH Reckoning reflects a growing movement across women’s sports, where players and former athletes are stepping into ownership roles to help grow the game off the field — not just compete on it. In recent years, stalwarts such as Jess Fishlock have invested in a new USL W League club, helping build pre-professional infrastructure and expand opportunities for the next generation. Meanwhile global icons like Naomi Osaka have taken ownership stakes in top-tier women’s soccer clubs, signaling broader confidence that women’s sports are ready for long-term investment and institutional growth. Having a FSU Hall of Famer and professional player like McCarty — and an FSU-rooted founder like Dr. Fontes — puts TLH Reckoning squarely within this rising tide, as more women athletes become architects and owners of the future of the sport.
“Welcoming Tiffany to the ownership group is a full-circle moment for me, TLH Reckoning and for Tallahassee,” stated Dr. Ashlee Fontes, TLH Reckoning Founder. “She is not only one of the greatest players to come through FSU, but someone whose character, leadership, and desire to give back align perfectly with our mission. I’m thrilled that she is joining us in building a club rooted in opportunity, community impact, and a commitment to elevating women’s soccer inspired by the formative effects that FSU and Tallahassee had on our lives.”

About Tiffany McCarty
A Seminole Legend, Tiffany McCarty came to FSU in 2008 and departed in 2012 as one of the most decorated players in the history of Seminole women’s soccer. In 98 appearances, she scored 63 goals and added 24 assists — making her FSU’s all-time career leader in both goals and total points. She earned ACC Freshman of the Year honors in 2008 — the first in school history — and went on to become a three-time All-ACC performer. Over her career, she tallied 14 career game-winning goals and ranked among the top nationally in goals per game and total points.
McCarty was also recognized with national prestige: she received First Team All-American honors multiple times, was a semifinalist for the prestigious MAC Hermann Trophy (2009, 2011), and consistently featured on All-American and All-Region teams throughout her college career. Under her leadership, the Seminoles made four straight NCAA Tournament runs — reaching the Elite 8 in 2008 and 2009, and advancing to the College Cup (national semifinals) in 2011 and 2012.
After college, McCarty was selected second overall in the 2013 NWSL College Draft by the Washington Spirit, where Dr. Ashlee Fontes was at the helm of the organization. Her professional career spanned the U.S. and beyond — including stints with the Houston Dash, FC Kansas City, and overseas clubs in Japan, Norway, and Iceland. Her international résumé includes representing the United States at youth levels and contributing to the U.S. U-23 squad that won the Four Nations Tournament in 2013.
