ABOUT TLH RECKONING:
TLH (pronounced Tallahassee) Reckoning is the first of its kind professionally operated women’s soccer franchise emerging from Tallahassee, Florida. TLH Reckoning includes a pre-professional team and reserves team which will play inaugural seasons in the Summer of 2024. Both teams will compete in the USL W League and USL Academy respectively. TLH Reckoning will operate year-round with College/Pro Track Training and Development (T&D) and Reckoning Futures programs kicking off in August to provide local female players with the holistic development substance that has been missing.
Breaking geographic and institutional barriers the Reckoning is owned and operated by one of the most successful architects of the modern women’s game across the nation – former United Soccer Coaches President, co-founder of the Girls Academy league, Washington Spirit founding executive, FSU women’s soccer and W League alum; a female minority and a fierce advocate for girls and women in soccer.
INTERNSHIP POSITION SUMMARY:
We are seeking a creative and enthusiastic Social Media and Digital Marketing Intern to join our newly formed women’s soccer franchise. As the Social Media and Digital Marketing, you will play a pivotal role in building and maintaining a strong online presence for the team, engaging fans, and driving the team’s brand awareness and digital growth. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic and passionate team while gaining valuable experience in sports marketing and digital media. This is an unpaid internship for college credit only. This internship runs from September through December 2023, however, continuation into the Spring/Summer terms are possible.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (including but not limited to the following):
- Create, curate, and manage engaging content for the team’s social media platforms, including but not limited to Facebook, Instagram and YouTube
- Assist with the development and implementation of a content calendar to ensure consistent and timely posts that align with team events, matches, and promotional activities
- Assist in capturing and editing photos and videos from training sessions, matches, and behind-the-scenes moments to provide fans with exclusive and visually appealing content
- Assist in monitoring social media trends, relevant news, and conversations in the soccer community to stay current and capitalize on opportunities for engagement.
- Interact with fans in a positive and engaging manner, responding to comments, messages, and inquiries across various platforms
- Assist in organizing and executing social media campaigns, giveaways, and contests to boost follower engagement and reach
- Collaborate with the marketing team to develop and implement digital advertising strategies to promote ticket sales, merchandise, and team initiatives
- Monitor and analyze social media metrics and provide regular reports on the performance of different campaigns, posts, and platforms
- Assist in managing the team’s website, ensuring that content is up to date, accurate, and user-friendly
- Research and propose innovative ideas to enhance the team’s online presence, increase engagement, and reach a broader audience
- Stay informed about emerging trends and technologies in social media and digital marketing to continually improve strategies
REQUIREMENTS & COMPETENCIES:
- Strong passion for soccer and a good understanding of the women’s soccer culture and community
- Proficiency in using social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram and YouTube
- Basic skills in photo and video editing software (e.g., Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere, Canva, etc.)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to adapt tone and style for different social media platforms
- Creative mindset with an eye for design and storytelling
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Positive and proactive attitude, with a willingness to learn and take initiative
- Basic knowledge of digital advertising and analytics is a plus
- Strong work ethic, positive attitude, and passion for working in women’s soccer
- Willingness to take initiative and desire to learn
- Must be reliable, self-sufficient and intrinsically motivated
- Must understand and be able to handle the chaotic environment of a start-up
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to think strategically and problem-solve independently
- Strong time management and organizational skills
