Dr. Ashlee Fontes is one of the most globally respected leaders in women’s soccer and a driving force behind the rise of the game at every level, from college soccer to the professional and international stage.
A record-setting Florida State standout, Fontes helped lead the Seminoles to their first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance, two Sweet 16 runs, consecutive Top 10 national rankings, and the program’s first ACC Championship Match. Her leadership on the field helped establish Florida State Soccer as a national powerhouse laying the foundation for the dynasty it is today.
Following her playing career, Dr. Fontes became a founding executive with the Washington Spirit during the launch of the NWSL, helping build the most historic women’s soccer league in the world and one of women’s professional soccer’s premier organizations while contributing to the development and selection of Olympians, national team players, and world-class professionals. She later helped establish the Girls Academy League, the nation’s leading platforms for elite girls soccer development, and served as President of United Soccer Coaches (6 year board term), the largest coaches association in the world.
With more than 20 years of coaching and leadership experience, Dr. Fontes has developed players who have advanced to the college game, professional leagues, and national teams.
